Nihat Kahveci was the man of the game and he led Turkey to the quarter finals of the UEFA Euro 2008 Cup
What a game!! What a joy of game for the fans of football and the fans of Turkey as well!! Turkey sent home the Czech Republic playing with all their strength and skills on the last 20 minutes of the match. Nihat Kahveci scored two goals in the last ten minutes that pushed Turkey into the quarter finals of the UEFA Euro Cup 2008.The Czechs had everything, they were already winning 2 - 0, with good football and good defense. Perhaps the game was a little bit violent, with too many faults, but they were succeding in stopping the Turkish. But then, on the minute 75 of the match, Turkey scored a goal that gave the team self confidence to keep on fighting. To be honest, Turkey did deserve to tie the game, they were playing a very good game, different from their last performances on the UEFA Euro 2008 Cup.
And then, in the minutes 87 and 89, the captain of the Turkish team, the experienced Nihat Kahveci, scored two goals. The first goal was a combination of struggle, experience and good luck, And the second goal was marvellous. A great goal. The Czech Republic could not believe it. Just 15 minutes before, they were sure they were going to be in the Quarter finals of the UEFA Euro Cup 2008 and at the end they had to go home.
Turkey now is likely to play against Croatia, in the second game of the Quarter finals of the UEFA Euro Cup 2008. The game will be next friday, june the 20th, at 20:45. Portugal will open the series of the Quarter finals against the team that stays in second place result from todays matches. I hope is against Germany. This match will be next thursday, june the 19th at 20:45 as well.
Yesterday, the football fans from all over the world, were singing along: Türkiye!! Türkiye!!
